Gem Elixirs

So, what is a Gem Elixir?

Whether you call them Gem Elixirs, Crystal Essence Water, Crystal Tonic or Gem Water, the principle is the same, Gem Elixirs are typically liquids (Water and Oils) that have been imprinted with a particular stone’s vibrational energy. The Crystals vibration energy is said to be transferred into the water, making the water charged with that energy.

The word “Elixir” means a magical or medicinal potion and comes from the Arabic word “Al iksic” meaning “Miracle Substance.”

This practice has been around for thousands of years and has been used by Ancient Pharaohs to current day Celebrities like Miranda Kerr and Gwyneth Paltrow. The Ancient Chinese would use Jade Elixirs for longevity, Ancient Egyptians would crush and drink certain crystals as medicinal elixirs to treat disorders, Red Stones were used for Bleeding and Blue Stones for Circulation. The Hindu “Vedic Texts” dates back as far as 3000BC and are said to speak of the use of Gem Elixirs.

Gem Elixirs can be made to reduce anxiety, increase wellbeing and Crystals can be simply added to a glass of water to cleanse and improve the quality of tap water. Water is an amazing substance, it can exist in 3 different states, as a Gas, a Liquid or a Solid. Water is a living substance with an energy cycle of its own and when infused with Crystal and Mineral energies, it becomes magikal.

What is the difference between Gem Elixirs and Flower Essences?

Apart from the way each are made, Essentially, Gem Elixirs are made by infusing a liquid with the vibrational energy of a Gem, where Flower Essences are made by extracting the essence or life force of a plant.

Both Gem Elixirs and Flower Essences help us to adjust the flow of consciousness that has created the “Dis-ease state”, slowly influencing not only the subtle body, but the physical body too to heal from within. Using both Gem and Flower in combination may have a greater effect on the Mind, Body, Spirit connection.

There are several different ways to make a Gem Elixir, the most popular two are the Direct Method and Indirect Method, but we have included some other ways too.

The Direct Method is where a Crystal is placed directly into the water, this is only done with Water Safe Crystals such as Quartz and Shungite. The container is covered and generally left between 2 - 12 hours to infuse the water. For added benefits the container may be left in the Sunlight or Moonlight to enhance the process.

The Indirect Method, this is a safe way to infuse the water when using toxic Crystals, this method is where the essence is infused into the water through placing the crystals into a glass vessel and immersing the vessel into the water. Kind of the same process as a “Double Boiler” would work when heating Candle Wax (a vessel inside a vessel), The container is covered and generally left between 4 - 20 hours to infuse the water, again the containers can be placed in Sunlight or Moonlight to energise the water.

Some other methods include:

Crystal Grid Infusion, this is another safe way of infusing your water when using toxic Gems. With this method the water is placed into a container and positioned in the middle of a crystal grid. It is where Quartz Points are used to amplify the energy of other Crystals into the water container. The Crystals are placed at the end of the Quartz Points which are facing directly at the container.

Crystal Slab or Cluster, this method involves the container of water being placed onto a Slab of Crystal or Cluster of Crystal, essentially draw the energy up through the container and infusing the water.

Copper Pyramid, this method can be used in conjunction with all the above methods. This simple method sees the Copper Pyramid placed over your preferred method, the Copper Pyramid helps the Crystals to vibrate with light and intention and magnifies their energy.

Boiling Method, this is a less common way, but is a quicker way to achieve similar results. Boiling is where the Crystals are placed into a saucepan with water and bought up to a slow and gentle boil, essentially extracting the energy of the Crystal. This method is fast and effective, as it does not require the water to sit for a long period of time while the infusion process happens, however, it may tends to damage the Crystals take are submerged in the boiling water.

How do we use Gem Elixirs?

Once a Gem Elixir has been made, it is called the “Mother Tincture” or “Mother Batch” from which you add to your sprays, massage oils and baths. Most Mother Batches will last approx. one week, unless you preserve the batch, typically blended with a Brandy or Vodka Base, generally at a 1 to 1 ratio.

There are a few ways we can use a Gem Elixir. We can spray a room with the elixir to uplift spirits or to cleanse the space, a spray can be made to cleanse the Aura. Elixirs can be placed into a Bath for a relaxing soak or to prepare for a ritual. We can even add the Elixir to oil and use in Massages or to anoint the Chakra’s and Pressure Points and even added to an oil blend to anoint candles for Spells and Rituals.

Gem Elixir Mixtures

Before creating any Gem Elixir that may be consumed internally, we should always consult a Toxic Crystal reference sheet, some Crystals contain toxic trace elements such as Asbestos, Mercury, and Sulphur. Crystals should be cleaned prior to using, as some Crystals are oiled and waxed.

Crystal from the Quartz Family are safe to use in the Direct Method, these include Clear Quartz, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine, but take care when using Smoky Quartz as some maybe “Artificially Irradiated.” Shungite is a great Crystals to place in a glass of water to purify the drinking water.

Below are some great Crystal Combinations, included are the Infusion method and Elixir properties:

Wellbeing / Harmony: Amethyst, Clear and Rose Quartz (Directly in a glass, Indirect and Crystal Grid Method)

Grounding: Black Tourmaline, Smoky Quartz and Jet (Indirect and Crystal Grid Method)

Protection: Black Tourmaline, Amethyst, Rose Quartz (Indirect and Crystal Grid Method)

Calming: Howlite, Blue and Green Calcite (Indirect and Crystal Grid Method)

Pick me up: Ametrine, Carnelian, Clear Quartz (Indirect and Crystal Grid Method)
